Dr. Neil White, M.D., Orthopaedic Surgeon & Research Lead, South Health Campus, will share his research on fall prevention. Dr. White is working on establishing connections between weather patterns in Calgary and increased injury from falls. The goal is to provide simple prevention strategies and better allocate resources to provide the best care possible during surges in orthopaedic trauma volume.
Alberta Health Services Move ’n Mingle Fall Prevention Exercise Program Facilitators will be sharing information on their 45-minute group exercise program, which takes place twice weekly, at a number of sites throughout the city. Classes include a combination of seated and standing exercises, and highlight balance, posture, and leg and core strength. The focus is on making day-to-day activities easier, helping individuals remain independent, and reduce the risk of falling.
