Legacy giving : It’s never too early to make an impact

Caylee Dahl knows firsthand the critical importance of having access to quality healthcare. She is a cancer survivor, and mother of twin boys who required a significant stay in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in order to survive.

Knowing how vital the care both she and her family have received through our healthcare system is the reason she’s decided to leave a charitable gift in her will.

“Our entire life has been impacted positively by the care we have received, both for my cancer and the boys while they were in the NICU. We are grateful daily for the donors who helped contribute to our positive outcomes, and we hope to support other families one day,” Caylee explains.

After facing serious medical issues at a young age, Caylee has come to understand the importance of having a will to protect her family. While most people in their forties don’t have legacy giving top of mind, Caylee has chosen Calgary Health Foundation as one of her charities to support.

“Calgary Health Foundation can allocate our funds to the medical areas that are important to us. I trust that the money will go to projects that are needed, and important for the community.”

Legacy giving is a way for individuals to make charitable contributions as part of their long-term financial or estate planning. It allows people to leave a lasting impact by supporting causes or organizations they care about, even after their lifetime.

“I have been lucky enough to be involved in some of the fantastic fundraising campaigns that Calgary Health Foundation has been a part of, and I know the money will go to important initiatives.”

In the stage of life she is in now, raising a family doesn’t leave much room for donations – by including a charitable gift in her will while she’s in her forties, she not only ensures her legacy will reflect her values, but also sets an inspiring example for others.

“My life has been profoundly impacted by the generosity of others through donations that improved cancer and NICU care. We want to honour that impact by making giving back part of our legacy.”

Thank you, Caylee, for making a lasting difference for future families through your planned giving. Your inspiring family has truly become a valued member of our Calgary Health Foundation family.
