Small steps, big impact: The power of monthly giving

For over 12 years, Paul Wright has been a dedicated Champion for Health monthly donor to Calgary Health Foundation, driven by his belief that everyone has the ability to make a meaningful impact.

Paul is the Executive Director of Integrated Quality Management at Alberta Health Services and knows first-hand the important work that’s done at hospitals and across the healthcare system. He is a registered nurse and spent the first four years of his career at the bedside before transitioning to a leadership role.

Paul became a monthly donor because he loved the idea that he’d be able to support the well-being of patients and specific programs that operational funds often don’t cover.

“There are new and unique treatments like music therapy and peer support that I know without foundation support, we wouldn’t be able to offer it to patients. We are recognized internationally for some of this work and it so impactful to patients,” Paul explains.

Paul believes that small donations by many add up to making a big impact. Monthly donors play a crucial role for Calgary Health Foundation, providing a steady and dependable source of income that enables the planning of larger, transformative projects.

He has been fortunate enough to not personally require the healthcare system, but is very grateful for the care his wife and daughter received when she was born at Foothills Medical Centre.

For Paul, the most rewarding part of his job is when people connect with him to solve a problem and he can help provide solutions to people.

“I like to be able to build people up and give them confidence. To let them know that we can figure this out together and they’re not alone.”

He believes that monthly giving reflects the same philosophy, fostering a sense of community where collective support helps ensure no one feels isolated.
